Qwinto is a roll-and-write dice game by Bernhard Lach and Uwe Rapp, published in Dutch by White Goblin Games. The game is suitable for 2 to 6 players, ages 8 and up, with a playing time of 15 minutes. Qwinto is a standalone game that is playable immediately without prior knowledge of the Qwixx line.
In Qwinto In each turn, you fill in numbers on a personal score sheet with three colored rows: orange, purple, and yellow. The goal is to fill the rows as completely as possible with the highest possible numbers for the maximum final score.
The active player chooses which color or combination of colors to roll: they can roll 1, 2, or all 3 of the colored dice. The sum of the chosen dice is the number that the active player may enter on their score sheet in the corresponding row or rows.
Through which channels you reach those people, classic and out of the box. Roll & Write The active player enters the result on their score sheet. All other players may also enter the same result in any row they wish. Anyone who enters nothing as a passive player scores a miss. Four misses and the game ends immediately for that player.
The two basic rules give the game its strategic tension. Numbers in a row must ascend from left to right: you may never enter a number that is lower than or equal to a number already to its left. Numbers in a column may not be the same: paying close attention to which numbers to place in the same column prevents closing off options. These two restrictions create a puzzle where every new number influences future possibilities.
Bonus points are earned for completing a full row and for filling in the pentagons on the score sheet. The final score is the sum of all filled boxes minus the value of the misses.
Qwinto It is explained within two minutes. The two basic rules are immediately understandable, and the score sheet contains only colors, boxes, and numbers. The Dutch game rules are compact. Players aged 8 and up can join in effortlessly. The strategic depth grows as you play more games and better understand how choices in early turns influence later options.
Qwinto It is ideally suited for families with children aged 8 and up, for lovers of roll-and-write dice games who want more strategic depth than standard dice games offer, and for those seeking a compact and fast game that can accommodate up to 6 players simultaneously. The simultaneous gameplay structure keeps all players actively involved, even when it is not their turn.
The power of Qwinto It lies in the elegance of two simple rules that together create a surprisingly deep puzzle. The fact that numbers must increase and columns cannot contain the same number sounds simple, but leads to situations where every fill-in choice opens or closes multiple future options. The simultaneous game structure completely eliminates downtime: everyone is involved with every roll. The compact box and the language-independent score sheet also make it ideal as a travel or gift game.
Qwinto is located in the same segment as Qwixx en Time and Time Again: compact roll-and-write dice games with simultaneous player participation and a personal score sheet. Compared to Qwixx heeft Qwinto a more three-dimensional scoring structure via the three separate rows and the column constraint. Compared to Time and Time Again is the system simpler in design but sharper in its two-line structure. Anyone who also likes Once again as a fast and simultaneous dice game, the approach of Qwinto recognize as comparable in experience, although the strategic puzzle layer of Qwinto a bit more challenging.
