Who are we and why are you reading this?
Hi! We are Boardgameshop.nl BV, the place that makes your board game heart beat faster. Just as we take good care of our games, we do the same with your privacy. In this privacy policy, we explain what we do with your data, why we do it, and, even more importantly, what we primarily NOT ALLOWED doing (like they secretly resell to dubious characters with sunglasses and long coats).
What do we mean by 'your data'?
Well, it involves things like your name, address, email address, what you order, whether you prefer to pay with iDeal or Klarna, etcetera. So no secret diary material, but info that allows us to deliver your order or send you a newsletter about that new Catan expansion (which you were secretly waiting for, of course).
Which smart digital friends help us?
WooCommerce: Our digital storefront
Our entire webshop runs on WooCommerce. That is, so to speak, the board on which all our games are neatly displayed. They only see your data if it is necessary to help us technically (such as: “Hey, this button isn't working!”), but they won't go wandering around with it.
SiteGround: The landlord of our website
SiteGround ensures that our site doesn't crash when visitors all come to watch the new Arkham Horror variants at the same time. They store your data like a treasure chest: safe, securely locked, and bound by a confidentiality agreement.
Who manages your payments?
Mollie: The cashier with digital superpowers
When you pay for something, the transaction goes through Mollie. They process your payment details as if they were guarding a bank vault. They are not allowed to do anything with your information other than ensure your payment goes through properly, so there are no unpleasant surprises.
Klarna: For when you want to play first and pay later
Klarna also processes your payment details. If you choose 'Pay later', they do check if you are actually able to do so. So yes, they look at your financial status, but they do so properly and according to the rules. We also use our payment partner Mollie for this.

WebwinkelKeur: Our star collector
If you leave a review (like "Great service!" or "Fast delivery, but where's my dice?"), it's done through WebwinkelKeur. They'll send us your name and email address so we know you actually bought something. They'll only use your information for that review, so no awkward questions afterward about your favorite cereal.

PostNL: The muscular delivery driver for shipping
When you order something from us, we naturally need your address. We provide it to PostNL. Otherwise, your order won't get past our warehouse. They also know your address in the warehouse; blindly sticking on shipping labels hasn't worked... PostNL only uses your address to get your games to you safely. If they need help from a fellow delivery person, they can let them know too. But otherwise, it stays between us.
Why do we actually collect your data?
To be completely honest: we only use your data to process your order properly, to email you if necessary, and to keep our stock in order. No sneaky marketing or profiled advertisements with “Buy this, NOW!” (unless you have explicitly given permission for this yourself).
We only share your info when absolutely necessary, such as with the accountant or delivery person. And only with people or systems that we trust 100% (We actually have a checklist with 'no villains' on it.).
How long do we keep your data?
We retain your data for as long as you are a customer. If you say, “I’m done with you,” we will dispose of everything properly, unless we need to keep it for tax purposes. In that case, we block your data from use but keep it safe in a kind of digital vault.
Your rights – and how you use them
You have all kinds of rights, such as:
Right of access – You may know what we have of you.
Right to correction Spot a mistake? We'll fix it.
Right to erasure – No longer a customer? We’ll erase you, with a tear.
Right to restriction – You can say: “Don’t use this part for a while.”
Right to transferability – You can take your data with you if you move.
Right to object – You can say: “I don't want this (anymore).”
Would you like any of the above? Then just send an email to our privacy hero(ine). We will respond within 30 days, often sooner, unless we are all busy with an exciting game of Terraforming Mars.

Do you feel we're not handling your data properly? We're very sorry about that, of course. Let us know, and if we can't resolve the issue together, you can always contact the Dutch Data Protection Authority. They have a special policy for this kind of thing.
