Pandemic Legacy Season 1 Red – NL

Pandemic legacy is a cooperative campaign game, with an overarching storyline played over 12-24 sessions, depending on how well your group performs. Initially, the game is very similar to the base game. Pandemic, in which your team of disease-fighting specialists races against the clock to travel the world, treating disease hotspots and researching treatments for each of the four diseases before they spiral out of control.

On a player's turn, they have four actions available, allowing them to travel the world in various ways (sometimes discarding a card), build structures such as research stations, treat diseases (remove one piece from the board; once all pieces of a color are removed, the disease is eradicated), trade cards with other players, or search for a cure for a disease (which requires discarding five cards of the same color in a research station). Each player has a unique role with special abilities to aid them in these actions.

After taking their actions, a player draws two cards. These cards may contain epidemic cards, which add new diseases to the board and can lead to an outbreak, spreading the disease even further. Outbreaks also increase a city's panic level, making it more expensive to travel to that city.

Each month in the game, you have two chances to complete that month's objectives. If you succeed, you win and move on to the next month. If you fail, you get a second chance, with more money for discounted event tickets.

During the campaign, new rules and components are introduced. These sometimes require you to permanently alter the game's components; this includes writing on cards, tearing them apart, and placing permanent stickers on components. Your characters may gain new abilities or harmful effects. A character may even be lost entirely, becoming unavailable for play.
